On the first Friday of most months since late 1995, my best friends and I have gone to a different restaurant for dinner. It's sort of the Algonquin Round Table. Without Dorothy Parker. Or the round table.

Service was "chaotic" as one of two appetizers (the same dish!) "came out much later than the first" "Certainly not worth [a special] trip for non-locals" $$ [27]

		578 Tremont Street, Boston Phone 617-859-4805 Back Bay / 43 Bus		A nice "option for Indian" in the South End, but nothing you "can't get at a cheaper place," especially since it's not "nearly as spicy" as promised (and not "palate-wowing" other than the "delicious puffy nan") though Mela does have "interesting decor" (other than the "uncomfortable chairs") and "great service."$$$$ [55]

		94 Massachusetts Av, Boston Phone 617-247-9922 Hynes / #1 Bus		"Creative" martinis and "tasty little burgers" (leaving some "craving them now" days later) are the thing here. While the "wall-o-flame" fireplace was cool, the interior is "cliche" and filled with "Stepford-wife zombie barbies". No one would "go just for the food." The staff barely recovered from complaints of "gritty spinich" with a free, "tasty" desert to share. $$ [33]

		Tim's Home		The "excellent sommelier" picked "tasty Lambrusco" vastly better than the "only decent pizza" (tho' diners praised the "wide variety"), "stellar service" from "super-cute staff" and a "low-key and fun" night in "the finest private dining club" in town. $ [20]
